Centuries-old Pietra Dura stone intarsia handcrafted with museum-grade precision by Jaipur master artisans.
At Shree Ram & Company (Vijeta Stone), our master artisans practice authentic Mughal Pietra Dura (Parchin Kari), the royal inlay art showcased in the Taj Mahal. Using surgical hand-cut slivers of genuine semi-precious gemstones—including Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Jasper, Onyx, and Mother of Pearl—we craft heirloom dining table tops, floor medallions, border inlays, and wall panels.
Authentic certified gemstones sliced into microscopic floral petals and geometric tesserae with calibrated diamond lapidary wheels.
Hand-chiseling sub-millimeter matching recesses into solid Makrana white or black marble slabs with zero edge chipping.
Hand-buffed with traditional lead and tin oxide emery powders to achieve an optically seamless, glass-smooth flush finish.

Authentic Mughal Pietra Dura (known locally as Parchin Kari) is a heritage lapidary art where slivers of genuine semi-precious gemstones are hand-cut and embedded into pre-chiseled cavities in solid marble slabs. Originating in Renaissance Florence and perfected in 17th-century Mughal Agra and Jaipur, this art uses real gemstones including Lapis Lazuli (deep blue), Malachite (banded green), Carnelian (fiery orange), Jasper (earthy red and brown), Turquoise (sky blue), Mother of Pearl (iridescent shell), and Tiger Eye. When completed, the stones sit 100% flush with the marble matrix, creating a lifetime permanent mosaic that never fades or detaches.
Genuine Pietra Dura marble inlay can be verified by touching and inspecting the gemstone surface. Natural gemstones are cool to the touch and exhibit natural internal geological striations, mineral inclusions, and variable depth of color. In contrast, synthetic imitations use tinted polyester resin or colored stone dust mixed with epoxy, which feels warm/plastic-like, lacks natural crystalline fire, and shows tiny trapped air bubbles under a loupe. Furthermore, genuine stone inlay will not scratch when tested with a standard brass edge, whereas plastic resin scratches easily.
Marble inlay surfaces should be cleaned using a clean microfiber cloth dampened with lukewarm water or neutral pH stone wash. Never use acidic cleaning solutions, vinegar, lemon juice, or abrasive powders, as acid attacks the calcium carbonate of the marble and the natural luster of semi-precious stones. Spills of wine, coffee, or turmeric should be wiped away promptly. For periodic enhancement, applying a thin coat of natural carnauba wax or neutral stone polish restores radiant depth without building up yellow residue.
The cost of authentic handcrafted Pietra Dura marble inlay typically ranges from Rs 2,500 to Rs 12,000+ per square foot depending on gemstone selection and floral motif density. A subtle border inlay with Mother of Pearl and Carnelian in Makrana marble starts around Rs 2,500 to Rs 4,500 per sq ft. Complex, museum-grade floral bouquets and central medallions utilizing rare Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, and Turquoise with hundreds of hand-cut petals per square foot range between Rs 6,500 and Rs 15,000+ per sq ft. Complete custom dining tables (6-seater to 12-seater) range from Rs 1,25,000 to Rs 8,50,000+.
