WPC (Wood Polymer Composite) blends fine wood fibers with high-density thermoplastics (PVC/PE) and specialized UV stabilizers, creating an engineered board with zero water absorption (<0.2%). Unlike MDF (which swells and disintegrates when exposed to rain) and cheap PVC foam sheets (which soften and warp under direct 45°C summer sun), WPC possesses high structural stiffness (density 0.65–0.70 g/cm³), complete termite immunity, and superior thermal stability, making it the premier choice for exterior architectural screens.
High-density WPC boards used by Shree Ram & Company are formulated with titanium dioxide and UV-inhibiting additives that prevent polymer brittleness and ultraviolet photodegradation. In regions with heavy monsoon downpours and high coastal humidity, WPC will never absorb water, rot, breed mold, or warp. For painted applications, we use exterior-grade polyurethane (PU) coatings with automotive cross-linking agents that maintain vibrant color for over 10 to 15 years.
For exterior building duct coverings and balcony elevations subject to wind loads, an 18mm or 25mm thickness is strongly recommended. Boards thinner than 12mm lack the bending stiffness required to span across 4 to 8 foot structural openings and may flutter during storms. For extra-large vertical duct spans, panels are mounted within a heavy-gauge aluminum or galvanised iron (GI) perimeter box frame (50x25mm or 50x50mm) to ensure absolute structural safety.
WPC jali screens are installed by framing them within an aluminum, MS, or wooden U-channel perimeter track and securing them with stainless steel countersunk screws. For painting, WPC requires a solvent-based plastic primer (such as an epoxy or polyurethane tie-coat) to ensure strong adhesion to the polymer surface. Once primed, two coats of exterior PU enamel or automotive Duco paint are spray-applied in your desired color, resulting in a smooth, weatherproof satin or gloss finish.
